How does SkinPen Work?
SkinPen activates your body’s natural skin-healing power to increase collagen and elastin. Colllagen and elastin arte the essential protein fibers in the skin that gives it support and elasticity. As we age, these fibers break down and can cause wrinkles. SkinPen regenerates and activates your own collagen for more youthful looking skin, smoothing wrinkles on the neck and improving the look of facial acne scars.
What you can expect
- Before Treatment
An IHM provider will gently cleanse your skin. Topical anesthesia may be administered to assure maximum comfort during the treatment.
- During Treatment
SkinPen jump starts the production of collagen and elastin and encourages the release of growth factors that recruit and increase reparative cells. The SkinPen treatment lasts approximately 30 minutes but may last up to one hour for the entire treatment session. Be sure to speak to one of the IHM providers before you come to get an accurate time estimate.
- After Treatment
Your skin may initially appear slightly pink to red, similar to a mild sunburn. This is normal and should subside within 24 to 72 hours. Some people see rejuvenated skin after just one treatment, and results may continue to improve for three to six months following your last treatment.
